The Australian Business Register(ABR) is designed to be a comprehensive register of information provided by businesses when they register for an Australian Business Number (ABN). The main objective of the ABR and ABN system is to prevent other businesses from being required to withhold tax from payments, to provide a single number for GST registrations and to provide all levels of government with a unique business identifier. The ABR site can be used to search for business ABNs or to apply for an ABN.
